About SPLATT

For years, Rob, affectionately known as "SPLATT," navigated the demanding world of NYC TV commercial post-production, eventually leading his own visual effects company. It wasn't until 2017, after closing that chapter and attending Steve Earle's "Camp Copperhead" songwriting retreat in upstate NY, that a fervent passion for music took hold. Now calling Asheville, NC home, where he sought a new sense of purpose, SPLATT channels his diverse influences—think Bruce Springsteen's storytelling, John Prine's wit, and Hank Williams' heart—into a soulful Americana sound that weaves together roots rock, country, folk, and blues.

His debut album, "Weathervane," was lauded by critics, including David Masciotra, author of books on Bruce Springsteen and John Mellencamp, for its insightful lyrics and authentic sound. His song "Thunder Mountain," honoring a Vietnam veteran, was featured in "Arts of War," a compendium by the Vietnam Veterans of America.

Demonstrating his connection to his new community, his song "Swannanoa River Blues," inspired by the devastation of Hurricane Helene, was included on the local compilation "The Flood: Music for MANNA," supporting the MANNA FoodBank. Beyond his music, SPLATT's creative drive is evident in his craftsmanship & inventions: "The Pianotable," a reimagined piano harp that functions as a coffee table, sound system, and even a vibration therapy device, and TICSTACTOE®, a multi-award-winning 3D Tic-Tac-Toe game licensed by a toy company.
